Cosmetic surgery of the eyelids, medically termed Blepharoplasty, corrects the loose, sagging and aged look of the male eyelids. Frequently, the earliest indication of aging is the sagging of the upper lid skin. It’s true that loose eyelid skin is often a natural occurrence from aging, hereditary pre-disposition and possible sun exposure, the bags found on eyelids of younger male patients are usually due to heredity. Many of our patients feel self-conscious about appearing unrested, overly exhausted and stressed out. That is the time to look into different options that eyelid surgery can provide with experienced board certified plastic surgeon Kole Plastic Surgery. If you are in your twenties and thirties with saggy eyelids that are a familial trait, you most likely have wanted to fix them for a long time. Different symptoms need specific consideration when planning your procedure. Some common problems men have with eyelid bags are:
- Dark circles
- Swollen lids
- Deep or fine lines and wrinkles
- Loose skin
- Looking tired all the time
As with all facial cosmetic procedures, eyelid surgery demands expertise and experience. Dr. Kole does not ever want you to need any corrective work performed due to the required symmetry necessary with the eyes. You will be under IV sedation or general anesthesia if other procedures are performed. It is delivered through an IV line and allows you to sleep through the procedure. This is an outpatient procedure that takes approximately one hour to 1 ½ hours. Time varies from patient to patient depending on the complexity of work. When the lower lid is being enhanced, Dr. Kole tightens it just the right amount to stop any future problems with the actual eye. This assures that the location and appearance of the lower lid stays natural. You don’t want to have your face looking too tight or “done” with any facial enhancement surgery.
Once moved to the recovery area you will be closely monitored until deemed safe to go home. Plan on resting for the remainder of the day with cold packs, eye ointment and pain medication. Most men report minimal pain with this procedure, again, that is different for each person. Stitches are removed between 5—7 days. You may return to work 7—10 days post-op. Different exercise routines, lifting, activities and cautions will be discussed when you meet for your complimentary consultation with Dr. Kole. Usually within 4—6 weeks after your Blepharoplasty the final results will be seen.
