Are you looking for a liposuction procedure in Bucks County PA? Aging, inactivity, genetics, and diet all conspire to make it easier to gain weight with each passing year.

If you have worked hard at weight control, you’ve probably learned the critical lesson that diet and exercise can’t dictate where your body will shed pounds. Often, women first show evidence of weight loss in their faces and breasts. Men, too, early on show the effects of lost weight in their faces. The result can be a gaunt, haggard, and distinctly older appearance.

Liposuction surgery in Bucks County can help remedy this problem by selectively removing fat deposits from your body, re-shaping your figure and restoring the contours of your body.

Dr. Kole recently purchased the Smartlipo™ TriPlex, which is the ideal minimally invasive workstation with three unique wavelengths designed to treat your liposuction needs. He uses the Smartlipo™ TriPlex to perform:

Are You a Good Candidate for Liposuction in Bucks County?

If you have good skin tone, meaning that excessive fat appears only in localized areas—including your abdomen or love handles, neck, arms, and thighs—then liposuction in Bucks County, Pennslvania may be for you.

Liposuction is a cosmetic surgery procedure that involves inserting narrow steel tubes called cannulas under the skin. The area is anesthetized to ensure your procedure will be free from discomfort. The fat is liquefied and removed through the tubing for disposal.

You are more likely to be satisfied with the results of your liposuction surgery if you meet certain requirements, such as the following:

  • You should be in good general health.
  • You should have realistic expectations for the results of your surgery.
  • You should not have an eating disorder.
  • You should be maintaining a stable weight. It is best if this is the ideal weight for your height and frame.
  • You should have good skin elasticity for an optimal appearance after recovery.

Dr. Kole will discuss these points and others during your initial consultation.

How Long Does Liposuction Last?

Fat removal is permanent. One must remember that fat is a storage organ for extra calories. If you gain weight after liposuction, fat will be unevenly deposited across your body. After the procedure, there will be fewer fat cells in the areas that have been treated. Weight gain will cause fat cells to grow larger across the body, but the weight gain will be most obvious in the places that were not treated, because of the greater number of fat cells there, which may lead to a distorted and unpleasing body shape. It is best not to gain weight after liposuction and best if you are close to your ideal body weight before having the procedure performed.

We Start with a Consultation

The key to any medical relationship is to ensure that the patient in Bucks County understands what is involved. That’s why you will begin with a consultation with Dr. Kole at his Bucks County, PA cosmetic surgery center. You will discuss your medical history and current health and talk about the results you desire from your plastic surgery procedure. Dr. Kole will explain various options available for your surgery so you can make informed choices about how to proceed.

The Surgical Procedure

Your liposuction operation begins by injecting a warmed liquid solution into the areas to be treated. This solution will consist of the following:

  • Saline solution (sterile salt water adjusted to match the body’s chemistry precisely)
  • Lidocaine or another local anesthetic (numbing medicine)
  • Epinephrine, a vasoconstrictor (a drug that narrows blood vessels, minimizing bleeding)
  • A buffering agent to change the pH of the solution so it does not burn

Once this solution has infiltrated the fat deposits, one or more small incisions will be made in inconspicuous areas. Cannulas—narrow steel tubes—will be inserted through these incisions under the skin; at the other end, these tubes are connected to a high-powered suction unit.

Depending on the options chosen for the procedure ahead of time, the fat deposits are liquefied by one of the following methods:

  • Manual back and forth manipulation
  • Vibration
  • Ultrasonic energy
  • Lasers

As fat cells are broken open, the liquid fat is suctioned out through the tip of the cannula. The fat travels through the handle of the cannula and through tubing into the collection chamber for later disposal.

After Fat Removal Surgery

After surgery, patients will wear a compression garment. This compression garment will help with postoperative discomfort and swelling. This garment is usually worn for two weeks.

In liposuction, there is no need for drainage tubes. The recovery is quick and you can usually return to normal activities, such as sports, two weeks after your surgery.

Fat removal by liposuction is permanent. The fat cells are disrupted and removed from the body. However, clients are warned that later weight gain can distort the results from liposuction procedures.

Many patients have concerns about scarring after liposuction. The incisions used are less than one-fourth of an inch in diameter and are placed in very discreet areas. Behind the ears, in the belly button, in the pubic area, or in the bathing suit line are common sites to make scars almost invisible.

Liposuction of the Neck

Excess fat deposits in the neck and jowl area give the appearance of being overweight and having a double chin. This unwanted fat can easily be removed by liposuction through very small incisions placed in hidden locations behind the earlobes and under the chin in a skin crease of the neck. The neck liposuction procedure is most successful in people who have good skin tone of the neck, allowing the skin to retract after fat removal. The most remarkable aspect of having liposuction of the neck is the dramatic amount of improvement that can be achieved with such limited incisions and limited recovery.

How Does Liposuction of the Neck Work?

Liposuction of the chin and neck area achieves these results by volume reduction of fat and skin tightening. Using a very small stainless steel cannula placed under the skin through a 1/8th inch incision, a high-powered suction unit is used to gently remove the excess fat under the skin of the neck. After the fat has been removed, a single suture is used to close this small incision. Afterwards, a neck compression garment is worn for a few days to aid in the contraction and re-draping of the neck skin.

The ideal candidate for neck liposuction is someone who has excess fat in the neck and good skin tone without hanging loose skin. When a person has good skin tone, there is a better chance that the skin of the neck will contract and re-drape to the new improved contour of the neck. If a person has poor skin tone and some measure of skin laxity and liposuction is performed, then the skin will not contract and will require excision of the extra skin as part of a neck lift to achieve optimum results.

Liposuction of the Hips, Thighs, and Tummy

Sculpt away unwanted fat in the arms, abdominal area, outer and inner thighs, hips, love handles, buttock, and the back fat by the bra area to reveal a more pleasing shape. Despite a reasonable level of exercise and diet, some people may still have unwanted bulges due to localized fat deposits. If you wish to get rid of these fatty deposits, you should consider liposuction.

These areas may be due to familial genetics rather than a lack of diet and exercise. The benefits of liposuction are many, but paramount among them is that the removal of excess and unwanted fatty tissue can be permanently maintained when followed up with a healthy diet and exercise.

Unlike tummy tuck surgery, which is performed when there is lax skin, loose abdominal muscles, and extra fatty tissue in the abdominal area, liposuction slims and re-contours specific areas of the body by removing excess fat deposits that are located under the skin. Quality liposuction results in more pleasing curves and contours, shapelier thighs, arms, and abdomen and in many cases, superior self-image and greater self-confidence.
