Arm Liposuction for Women near Philadelphia, Bucks and Montgomery County Pennsylvania

A woman’s arms are often visible to the world through short sleeves, tank tops, and tight fitting shirts.  It is a difficult balance for most women to achieve a lean-looking arm through exercise that does not appear too muscular or fatty.  Most women do not want muscular-looking arms, but the alternative of having arms with excess fat under the upper arm or around the elbow or tricep area is also an unappealing option.  Fortunately, arm liposuction is a relatively easy solution that has satisfied many women wanting to contour their arms.

Achieving a feminine and slim arm is complex because they need to look good in a relaxed position and also need to be proportional to the rest of the body.  The goal of arm liposuction is not to remove the maximum amount of fat; very thin arms will look just as incongruous with the female body as would larger arms with excess fat.

Arm liposuction can remove fat from several areas on the arm.  To achieve optimal results, fat should be removed from around the arm by removing fat from the entire circumference of the arm, elastic skin will better be able to tighten to produce a natural look.  It is important to realize that fat is not evenly distributed in the arm and the final result that one gets is directly proportional to the fat that remains, even if the fat is unevenly distributed. In other words, fat has to be removed more in areas where there is more fat to start with.

Another target of arm liposuction is “bra fat”.  Tightly fitting bras push the skin and fat in that area, causing a bulge that sticks out unattractively from tighter shirts.  This area just behind the armpit can be improved during liposuction, as well. This fat is removed by liposuction with a very small incision in the lateral fold of the breast.

One risk of arm liposuction is removing too much fat, creating a gaunt and muscular-looking arm that is both not feminine and also disproportionately thin.  In order to avoid this, Dr. Kole does not remove more than 75% of the original subcutaneous fat, so that a small layer of fat remains to maintain the feminine contour of the arm. This allows the skin to retract and leaves an even layer under the skin so the arms appear feminine. Another isk of arm liposuction is poor skin retraction, leaving loose, empty poor toned skin behind.  In these patients, arm liposuction is combined with an arm lift or brachioplasty, to remove excess skin.

Because arm liposuction is so complex, finding a plastic surgeon who knows the delicate procedure is important.  Dr. Edward Kole of The Kole Plastic Surgery Center is aware of how to achieve a feminine-looking arm without removing too much fat.
