Breast Augmentation

Breast Augmentation in Bucks County

Centrally located in Southampton, PA and serving Philadelphia, Bucks, and Montgomery Counties, the Kole Plastic Surgery Center performs breast augmentation for patients desiring plastic surgery.

What Is Breast Augmentation?

Breast augmentation, or breast enlargement, is a cosmetic procedure that uses implants placed under the skin surgically to enhance the size and shape of your breasts. These implants may be made from silicone or saline. Changes with breast augmentation can be obvious, subtle, or somewhere in between, and Dr. Kole can provide professional guidance on the most flattering option for your specific body type and your post-operative goals.

Things to know before breast augmentation

You should choose a qualified plastic and reconstructive surgeon for your breast augmentation surgery. Plastic and Reconstructive surgeons are surgeons who spend years of training perfecting surgical techniques and skills. Cosmetic surgeons on the other hand, can be non-surgical trained doctors like Internists or Family Medical doctors who take weekend courses to learn about procedures.

Your breast augmentation surgery should take placed in a State Licensed Ambulatory Surgical Center or a local area Hospital. Make sure that your surgeon gives you both Surgical Center and Hospital options as Cosmetic surgeons are routinely barred from performing breast augmentation surgery in Hospitals however use Ambulatory Surgical Centers as they are usually privately owned and have less stringent qualifications to perform surgery there.

Please check the doctor’s Google reviews as this is very important on how other people perceive the surgeon and make sure that you’re comfortable with your Plastic and Reconstructive surgeon and he gives you the time that you require to express your concerns and answer all your questions to your satisfaction.

What Is the Cost of Breast Augmentation in Philadelphia and Bucks County?

The cost of your breast augmentation is based upon the type of implant necessary to create your ideal look, as well as the extent of surgery necessary to achieve that goal.

The Kole Plastic Surgery Center Center accepts cash, check, and credit card (MasterCard®, Visa®, American Express®, Discover®) as acceptable forms of payment.

Financing is also available through CareCredit®, United Medical Credit and Advanced Care.

Is Breast Augmentation Right for Me?

Breast augmentation requires general anesthesia, so you need to be in good health. Breast augmentation is recommended for women who feel that their breasts are too small, as well as women with sagging, asymmetric or misshapen breasts. If your main concern is sagging or misshapen breasts, a breast lift is often recommended to fully correct this problem and can easily be performed in conjunction with the implant procedure.

We use the Keller Funnel to minimize the overall size of the incision.

How Is Breast Augmentation Performed?

Saline or silicone implants are currently FDA-approved breast implant materials. The choice among these is often personal preference, although Dr. Kole can advise you on the best choice for your implant based on your desires. Visible scarring is a common concern among women who are considering breast augmentation. Dr. Kole creates incisions in locations where scarring is less noticeable and also uses advanced techniques to minimize scar development and has special surgical equipment custom made to limit overall incision size.

On the Road to Recovery - After the Procedure

You will wear a surgical compression bra for a few days after your surgery and your activities will be limited for a period of time. Immediately after your surgery, you will have some indication of how your new breasts will look, but the swelling needs to subside before you see the final results.

What is the recovery time for breast augmentation?

The recovery after breast augmentation has two basic categories- pain recovery and social recovery. The pain recovery after breast augmentation is also based on two factors: the amount of muscle stretch and the amount of skin stretch. If you are using very large implants, the skin stretch, and the muscle stretch will be significant, and you will experience more discomfort. If you’re using small to moderate sized implants, and if the skin is already a little stretched like if you’ve had children, then the pain recovery after breast augmentation is less. The social recovery includes how good you look without clothes on. Breast implants are usually placed under the muscle and therefore the muscle tends to go into spasm after surgery and the implants sit higher on your chest for several weeks until the muscle relaxes. So therefore, you look great in clothes but not great naked until the chest wall muscle relaxes, and the implants settle into place.

How much time do you need to take off work after breast implants?

The amount of time you need to take off work after breast augmentation surgery is based on your occupation. Women that have desk jobs will require two to three days of recovery while women with physical jobs usually take off one week. Dr. Kole will give you his recommendations for how much time you need out of work if you do not fall into one of these basic work categories.

How long does it take for breast augmentation to heal?

The incisions after breast augmentation heal rather quickly. The sutures are removed at the end of the first week and women can do basic activities at that time. The implants will be slightly higher on your chest wall due to the post-operative muscle spasms and will settle into their correct positions over the next several weeks. You should limit overhead activities or two weeks after surgery.

Breast Augmentation FAQs

There can be changes in nipple sensation after implant surgery especially if you use the peri-areolar incision for insertion. Sensation in the nipple and the surrounding breast may increase or decrease and can be temporary or permanent.

Sun bathing and tanning salons or will not damage your breast implant but may make the scars appear worse. You should avoid getting sun exposure on your incisions for at least one year after surgery as ultraviolet radiation can permanently pigment your breast implant incisions.

Implants are not lifetime devices; therefore it is likely that they will need to be replaced eventually. The time period varies whereas some women need replacement surgery in only a few years while other breast implants may last 10-20 years or longer. There are many different reasons why a woman might need her implants replaced including such as a size change or an implant style change, and sometimes removal and replacement is necessary because of a complication, such as deflation, hard scar capsule or shifting of the breast implant.

After the sutures are removed on or around the seventh day, you will be prescribed breast exercises to move your breast implants to stretch the tissues to keep your breast implants soft. Light physical exercise can start after the second week and strenuous exercises like weight lifting can be started after the fourth week
