Laser Acne Scar Removal Treatment

Growing up, one of our major skin problems centered around the dreaded acne. When that cleared up, or mostly cleared up, we started obsessing over the ugly acne scars. So what are they?

Acne scars are the direct result of deep skin infections and are caused by acne cysts or pustules. Our skin follicles become blocked with oil, bacteria, and dead skin cells when such a spot forms. The blockage in turn, causes the skin to become inflamed and increase in size.

The follicle gets ruptured, when the internal pressure becomes excessive which causes localized damage to the skin. Healthy skin cells of the deeper levels in the skin are damaged as a result of the infection.

What Happens Next?

The natural response of our body in the event of skin damage is truly amazing. To counter and ‘heal’ the damage, more collagen is produced. However, at times excessive collagen leaves a bumpy scar on the face.

Another common type of scarring to the face is depressions on the surface of the skin known as atrophic scars. This normally occurs when there has been a loss of tissue as a direct result of acne damage.

The obvious reasons why people who have ugly acne scars often look for treatments and procedures to removal the scarring permanently is because, any type of scarring, especially on the face, can be very distressing to the person and result in a loss of self confidence.

A couple of years ago, treating something as simple as acne scars on the face was unheard of but now laser technological advancements have made this a possibility!

Acne Scar Removal by PicoSure Laser Technology

Developed by Cynosure, now PicoSure can also effectively treat and remove ugly acne scars from the face using its incredible Focus Lens Array, i.e. a cutting edge laser therapy that is approved by the FDA! The laser works like other laser treatments for acne scar removal, but in addition to penetrating the affected localized area, the technology also combines a dual approach when it comes to treating skin conditions.

The Pressure Wave; by combining the photo-thermal and photo-mechanical process, works by directing ultra short pulses directly to the treated area. This causes the shattering of the intended target, without allowing any damage to the surrounding area. The combined effect of this cutting edge technology is the reason why it has become one of the most efficient acne scar removal procedures in the world. The PicoSure laser actually generates both collagen and elastin in the skin.

What Are The Expected Results?

Every case is different and therefore, will be first assessed and examined before determining what the final result will be. Treatment with PicoSure Laser by Cynosure is still considered to be much faster, and the results can be seen within as little as 48 hours after the first session.
