Women near Philadelphia Look Younger with Upper Eyelid Surgery

Women in Philadelphia Look Younger with Upper Eyelid Surgery

Those small creases and lines by your brow is where subtle aging signs normally show up first. The eyes are, as it has always been said, your most noticeable and expressive feature. They are noticed regularly by family, friends, peers, clients, co-workers, neighbors and many others. Do you believe you look more tired, stressed or aged than you have appeared in the past? Upper eyelid surgery for women, known medically as Blepharoplasty, can help you to achieve a younger restored appearance.

Throughout the natural aging process, the female’s upper eyelids begin to look:

  • Darker
  • Puffy
  • Saggy
  • Wrinkled
  • Unrested
  • Droopy

These upper eyelid problems can be corrected with female upper eyelid surgery. Some women do take certain corrective measures, prior to elective upper eyelid surgery, as unwanted early aging changes begin to appear. That is all of a personal matter and choice. Corrective measures such as: Botox, Mild Skin Resurfacing and Minor Fat Transfers, all of which are also performed by Dr. Edward Kole, as well, to help correct wrinkles, dark circles and sagging. Some women have sagging of their eyebrows and loss of elasticity of their forehead skin. In those cases, a facelift or a brow lift may be suggested and customized in conjunction with your upper eyelid surgery.

Upper Eyelid Surgery Procedure for Women

This is an outpatient procedure at our fully licensed ambulatory surgical center. Local anesthesia is often used if the upper eyelid surgery is being performed as a stand-alone procedure or intravenous sedation or general anesthesia when combined with larger rejuvenation procedures like face lifts and neck lifts. In most cases, the incision is placed in the fold of the upper lid and traced out to the end of the brow line, or outside the corner of the eye, into existing laugh lines. Since the incision follows the natural fold and flow of the lid, it is well hidden. The excess fat and loose skin are removed, leaving the incision well camouflaged into the upper eyelid fold. Each person’s upper eyelid presents with different amounts of loose skin, excess fat and brow positioning. This will cause each woman to have their own individualized surgical plan of correction. While in recovery, a soothing saline compresses and ice will be put on your eyes to help with normal post-op swelling and protection, as well.

Recovery From Upper Eyelid Surgery For Women

You will need moist gauze to place on your eyes for the first 24-48 hours. There will be some swelling and bruising, although that varies among patients, as does overall recovery time. Ice packed in plastic sandwich bags help reduce swelling. Eye drops are supplied and used for dryness or irritation. You will return in a week for removal of the small stiches. You also need to avoid drafts and the sun and sunglasses are worn when outside. Over the course of several weeks you will see a more accurate result of your surgery. Incisions will continue to fade over the next few months. Your upper eyelids will lose their puffiness, which was caused by excess fat deposits that were removed during your surgery. Your upper eyelids will no longer have a saggy, wrinkled, unrested and droopy appearance any longer, as excess skin was removed and the underlying muscles were tightened in your upper eyelid blepharoplasty procedure. Upper eyelid surgery for women will help restore a more youthful and rested look to your most noticeable and expressive feature.
