Centrally located in Southampton, PA and serving Philadelphia, Bucks, and Montgomery Counties, the Kole Plastic Surgery Center Center performs Restylane Silk treatment for patients desiring skin rejuvenation.
What Is Restylane Silk?
Restylane® Silk is the first and only lip enhancement product to be approved by the FDA. It is designed specifically to increase lip volume while decreasing the appearance of the wrinkles and fine lines that surround the mouth, also called perioral rhytids or smoker’s lines.
All products in the Restylane® series are clear gels that contain hyaluronic acid. Each one is specially formulated to mimic the hyaluronic acid that is produced naturally by your body. This substance works by increasing volume and filling out fine lines and wrinkles.
What Can Restylane® Silk Accomplish?
Restylane® Silk can be used to address:
- Smoker’s lines – the vertical lines above the lip
- Thin lips – leading to full yet natural-looking lips
How is Restylane® Silk Different Than The Other Restylane® Products?
The particles that make up Restylane® Silk are smoother and smaller than those found in Restylane® Lyft or Restylane®, making them ideal for subtly enhancing lip volume while smoothing out fine lines around the mouth.
As with most other parts of the face, signs of aging tend to show up on the lips to an exaggerated degree. In many cases, this leads to thin, less shapely lips and fine lines that only worsen the visual effect.
Restylane® Silk’s exclusive particle gel formula provides patients with softer, more youthful results that look and feel natural.
How Long Does Restylane® Silk Last?
In clinical trials, it was reported that nearly 60 percent of people who received Restylane® Silk still had fuller lips six months later.
Am I a good candidate for Restylane® Silk?
Anyone who wants a younger-looking face and fuller lips that look completely natural may be a good candidate for Restylane® Silk treatment.
What Should I Expect With Treatment?
After your consultation with Dr. Kole to find out whether Restylane® Silk is a good option for you, he will apply a topical anesthetic to your lips to control discomfort during the procedure. Next, he will use a very fine needle, which is specially designed for accuracy, to inject the Restylane® Silk either straight into your lips, the fine lines around your lips or both. The entire procedure only takes 20 to 30 minutes, but this can vary with each patient. Afterward, you’re provided with an ice pack to help control swelling.
Dr. Kole begins with a small amount to keep the results as natural as possible. Once you’ve bought an entire syringe of Restylane® Silk, you can return whenever you’d like for another treatment. There will be no additional cost unless you’ve used all of your purchased product.
It’s common for mild tenderness, bruising and swelling to appear around the injection sites, but this should disappear within a few days.
One week before your scheduled treatment, you must avoid using NSAIDs such as aspirin and ibuprofen, as well as vitamin E and St. John’s wort. These supplements and medications tend to increase bleeding, which promotes increased bruising.
What Can I Expect During Recovery From Restylane® Silk Injections?
You’ll be able to return to work and resume your normal activities as soon as your treatment is finished. Most people will have a small degree of bruising, pain and swelling for several days afterward. Makeup can be used to mask any bruising or redness. It’s recommended to use cool compresses to minimize swelling and Arnica Montana topically to accelerate bruise healing.
