Popular Procedures For Men

In recent years, we have seen more men in our practice who are interested in looking younger. Like women, men experience life stages that can affect their confidence and self-esteem, such as an influx of young professionals in the workplace, divorce and being widowed. Baby boomers are especially attracted to plastic surgery because they want to live an active lifestyle that is most commonly associated with a younger generation. Married men often see how their wives have improved their appearances with plastic surgery and want to follow suit. The most popular plastic surgery for men procedures focus on the face and chest, two areas that show the most masculine features.

Eyelid Surgery (Blepharoplasty)

Topping the list for male plastic surgery is a procedure that removes excess fat and skin from the upper and lower eyelids. Blepharoplasty gives men a more alert and rested appearance and even helps with eye fatigue and vision problems caused by the extra weight of eyelids drooping over the eyes. The lower eyelid can sag to the degree that the pink tissue just below the eyelid is visible, and this can be an unattractive feature. After this male eyelid surgery, men look refreshed, and their eyes are much more appealing and prominent.

Neck Lift

One of the most overlooked areas of a man’s body is the neck area. Unfortunately, this is where aging tends to begin. The skin loses elasticity which leads to wrinkles and a “turkey neck” appearance. Muscle banding may also occur which exacerbates the problem. Wearing a shirt and tie exaggerates the problem by forcing excess skin and fat to bulge out above the collar. Men are considered attractive when they have defined jawlines and contoured necks. If you have loose skin and pockets of fat on your neck and jowls, Dr. Kole may recommend a neck lift to remove the excess tissue and tightening the underlying muscles. Recovery takes about two weeks, and the surgery provides a dramatic improvement to your appearance.

Nose Surgery (Rhinoplasty)

One of the downsides to living an active lifestyle in your early years and even well into adulthood is that you may experience injuries to your nose. Having a crooked nose affects the way people perceive your attractiveness. Other aspects of your nose that can be detrimental is having a bump on the bridge of your nose or having a nose that is disproportionate to your other features. Rhinoplasty can be performed for cosmetic and functional purposes to improve the size, shape, and function of your nose. Nose surgery for men requires a unique surgical skill set to ensure that your nose is corrected while maintaining a masculine profile. Dr. Kole understands the delicate structures of the nose and precisely how to make changes that are most attractive on men.

Chin Augmentation

Joining the jawline and nose as the most masculine features on a man’s face is the chin. Dr. Kole often recommends chin augmentation in conjunction with nose surgery to create a harmonious balance of the facial features. Chin augmentation adds fullness to your chin, improves your profile and enhances your jawline. The surgery is performed using chin implants and/or bone restructuring to achieve the perfect shape and size. Liposuction may also be used to refine the results.

Liposuction

A masculine body has more muscle definition, but your contours should not be caused by pockets of stubborn fat. Male liposuction techniques have come a long way in recent years, and Dr. Kole performs “fat sculpting.” The technique removes unwanted fat while sculpting the remaining fat in a way that mimics muscle definition. The result is a more toned and contoured appearance. He uses advanced body contouring technologies that allow for the precise removal of fat while minimizing tissue trauma and downtime.

Male Breast Reduction and Gynecomastia

Having breasts is a feature of a feminine body. Unfortunately, some men have a condition known as “gynecomastia” that causes enlarged breasts that cannot be reduced through diet and exercise. Breast buds are normal in infants and adolescent boys going through puberty. The condition typically resolves by adulthood, but some men have male breasts throughout their lifetimes. Male breast reduction removes the excess breast tissue and fat to give your chest a more contoured, masculine appearance.

Plastic surgery was once considered an exercise in vanity, but women have changed the landscape of the procedures. They have found a way to look younger and feel more confident. Men are now following their lead and learning more about the ways that plastic surgery can help them look younger yet age-appropriate. Dr. Kole is proud to work with men who are interested in pursuing plastic surgery to feel more confident, and he invites you to schedule a personal private consultation.
