What type of anesthesia is used during a tummy tuck?

The Tummy Tuck procedure requires a general anesthetic. All anesthesia at The Kole Plastic Surgery Center Center is performed by board certified anesthesiologists. A laryngeal mask airway (LMA) is a state-of-the-art device that is inserted into a patient’s mouth and moves the tongue out of the way and keeps the airway clear. This allows the patient to breathe unassisted during the surgical procedure. Short acting anesthesia medications are given to maintain a level of general anesthesia which allows patients to awaken very quickly at the end of the surgery.
