Ear Pinning and Cost Factors near Philadelphia

When thinking about cosmetic surgery for ear pinning, also referred to as Otoplasty, one of the first inquiries I am asked during a consultation is how much the procedure will cost.  As with all cosmetic procedures, I am always honest in answering that there are different prices and those prices always differ vastly depending on many factors involved with Otoplasty.  Some reasons for the different costs are obvious, while others aren’t known and I would like to bring these to your attention.  Some factors that are used to help decide the cost of ear pinning and what you can anticipate:

The Different Variety of Aesthetic Ear Surgeries and What Each Will Improve

  • Customary Ear Pinning: Most wish to decrease how far their ears stick out.  When fixing this problem through surgery, the ear shape is not altered.  The cartilage that supports the ear, found in the back must be weakened and changed in order for the ear to rest permanently closer to base of the head.  Being the most uncomplicated and clear-cut ear pinning surgery, this is usually the lowest in cost ranging approximately $3000 and may sometimes can be performed under local anesthesia saving facility and anesthesia fees.
  • Earlobe Alteration:  When the lobe is abnormally formed, which can be caused by many prior conditions, such as; accidents, poor piercings, birth defects, etc. Thankfully, Otoplasty can almost always modify and improve such conditions.  Because modifying a deformed lobe at times is difficult, this procedure normally will be more costly than that of a simple ear pinning.
  • Complete Ear Shape Converting:  This is the most complex and the highest in price of all three.  When changing the shape of ears, it needs to be understood that the ear has many angles, elevations and different bends within its’ inner and outer shape.  It is a complex surgical task but not one that cannot be accomplished.  Normally, this type of Otoplasty surgery is used for severely deformed ears, not traditional protruding or projecting ears or ears that are not symmetric to one another.

Costs for Otoplasty are normally assigned for the surgeon fees, use of the licensed ambulatory surgical center and the anesthesiologist.  There are smaller fees, which are between you and a lab, for any blood tests that are needed prior to surgery, as well as antibiotics and pain medicine. These fees can sometimes be covered by insurance. Specific costs are broken down and discussed during our complimentary consultation when all questions and concerns are discussed at length.  Each individual presents with different surgical needs and their own custom plan, once we sit down and spend time together we can formulate the safest and best plan of action to address your concerns and aesthetic needs.
