How is breast augmentation performed?

Breast augmentation is an outpatient procedure performed under general anesthesia.

During the surgery, a small incision is placed either underneath the breast in the crease around the lower edge of the areola or armpit. A saline or silicone gel implant is placed behind the breast tissue under the muscle. Your surgeon will work with you to determine the ideal size, shape and type of implant that is best suited for your body. The procedure usually takes about one hour.

For the first two days after surgery, you will wear a bandage wrap, After that, the bandage will be replaced with a soft padded cotton bra to maintain the optimal position of the implant.

You will have some limitations for 14 days after your operation. Do not take aspirin or aspirin products during this period. Strenuous activity should be avoided for the first two weeks after breast enhancement surgery. Regular activities are usually allowed after two weeks have passed.
