Male Breast Reduction ( gynecomastia ) in Bucks County and Philadelphia

Abnormal breast tissue can be an extremely embarrassing experience for men, but it is quite common. In fact, one of every three men has suffered to some degree from Gynecomastia, the development of abnormal breast tissue. This tissue is impossible to get rid of using diet and exercise, and the best way to fix the problem is to undergo cosmetic surgery to reduce the appearance of male breast tissue.

For many men with excess breast tissue and fat, liposuction alone can fix enlarged male breasts. For this procedure, a small incision is made under the areola, the colored part of the breast, and fat is then loosed and removed through thin tubes called cannula. Because the male skin on the chest is so elastic, the skin will re-contour to the “peck” muscle once the fat is removed, creating the appearance of a flatter and more muscular male breast. Sometimes, there is more solid fatty tissue around the breast or excess skin that has stretched around the breast, and these require additional procedures to be performed along with the liposuction. However, for many men who are in good health and moderately good physical shape, gynecomastia can be improved dramatically with just liposuction.

Although this problem is so common, it can be difficult for men to reach out to get help from surgeons. In Southern Pennsylvania, Dr. Kole makes it a point to make male patients with gynecomastia at ease with getting help. At The Kole Plastic Surgery Center, patients are provided with education about their condition and are presented with pictures of the procedure and results. As this is such a personal choice, Dr. Kole takes his time in gathering information about the patient and understanding what the patient hopes to get out of surgery. Also, if additional procedures are necessary to remove excess skin or tissue, Dr. Kole explains the options to the patient and makes sure that the procedure being done will result in optimal outcomes for the breast reduction. In most cases, these small procedures to remove excess breast tissues can be performed through a small incision on the bottom portion of the areola which leaves a nearly invisible scar.
