Otoplasty Recovery for Women near Philadelphia

Although women are excited to see their results, remember there is a period of recovery that does vary for each individual, prior to bandages being removed.  Then their improved appearing ears are able to be seen.  Patients usually have several minor side effects, such as discomfort and swelling, following surgery.  Dr.  Edward Kole will provide you with all post-operative instructions.  It is top priority that you heal properly, as well as, understand what will occur during your recovery period.  Following your surgeon’s aftercare instructions does offer the best chances for your optimal healing process.  Ear surgery recovery is not difficult, yet, paying attention to as much post-surgical detailed instructions is the best plan.

Immediately after Ear surgery

Upon your ear surgery completion, your head will have extra thick padded cotton bandages, called “fluff bandages” due to their padding, wrapped around in its’ entirety.  In a few days these bandages are removed and replaced by a lighter one for several more days.  Usually bandages remain wrapped around the head for approximately one week after ear surgery.  A soft headband is then used to cover the sensitive ears, which helps to hold them in their new position.  Some women may be instructed to wear the headband throughout the day and night while others only during the night, while they sleep.  Your ears will change from their initial swollen appearance right after your surgery to their final healing state in a few weeks.  This is why it is important to remember, if at first your ears aren’t what your mind’s eye envisioned, it is okay, they will be healing for quite some time.
