Sometimes when you are thinking about a life change your body is the root cause. Whether you have acquired some crow’s feet over the years or gained some additional weight, your looks can have a lot to do with your happiness. Pennsylvania Plastic Surgeon Kole Plastic Surgery is well aware that years change bodies, and while he cannot reverse time he can enhance what life experience has given you to work with. Liposuction is a procedure that could be the change you are looking for, but we understand how it can be confusing. Dr. Kole can help explain the modern liposuction procedure in a way that’s worry free and relatively simple. The first steps are completing a consultation and pre-liposuction evaluation. After Dr. Kole has confirmed that you are a good candidate for liposuction your procedure will be scheduled. Here is what to expect from your liposuction procedure.
- Upon arrival you will be greeted by our friendly staff and given the opportunity to ask Doctor Kole any questions you have.
- You will then typically be asked to sign a consent form to acknowledge the possible risks associated with the procedure.
- After you are settled in Doctor Kole will mark the areas to be suctioned.
- The procedure will begin with a solution being injected near the area to be suctioned. This solution contains a numbing agent or local anesthetic.
- Depending on the area being treated the anesthetic can take from 30 minutes to several hours to fully numb the space. This process must be done slowly to ensure its effectiveness to ensure guest is comfortable and has little to no discomfort.
- Once the area has been sufficiently numbed Doctor Kole will suction the marked areas with a medical grade hollow tube called a cannula.
- The fat that is removed moves through the cannula into a deposit chamber to be disposed of.
- The procedure may take an hour or less which all depends on the area of your body being suctioned.
- A compression garment will be applied to decrease swelling and bruising.
After your liposuction is complete you will have dressings applied in addition to a compression garment to assist with any inflammation or minor discomfort. You will wear this for about two weeks after which you can return to your daily activities. Since everybody is unique, your procedure may vary as well as the results.
