There has been a push toward the silicone gel breast implants and a feeling that patients will be “happier” with the gel implants. The truth is that both implants will look very natural. The issue is the feel. It is true that the saline breast implants will have a greater tendency to show ripples in the breast, especially in thin women, however the saline implant is soft especially when placed under the muscle.
The gel implant usually feels softer, but the more cohesive the gel, the stiffer the implant feels. Remember that with each implant there are trade offs, some more acceptable than others. Take your time to explore the options, and resist a decision of one implant over another until you understand what your choice will mean in the long term.
