Why do I need a neck lift if I can just hide the problem with winter sweaters and scarves?
I agree that sweaters and scarves are useful for hiding your neck area, but this is not a viable year-round option. Wouldn’t you rather choose your clothing based on your personal sense of style rather than your problem areas? Neck lift surgery means scars instead of wrinkles, right?
I choose only the technique that gives you minimal scarring. For some of my patients, I only perform liposuction under the chin to improve the natural contours. For moderate correction, I may recommend a combination of liposuction and endoscopic surgery using only small incisions. The most dramatic correction is achieved with surgery, and I place the incisions around your ears and in other areas where the scars are less noticeable.
What is involved in neck lift surgery and recovery?
During your consultation, I explain your surgery step-by-step, including the amount of time I expect to spend in surgery. The amount of time may be from one to three hours, and you may also need local or general anesthesia. Liposuction of your neck area is performed by making small incisions and using a special device known as a “cannula” to suction out the fat. During endoscopic surgery, I insert a tube through small incisions, and a tiny camera allows me to see the muscles and fat. Open surgery is the most extensive type of neck lift. After your surgery, initial recovery takes up to one month. But once you are fully recovered, the only turkey neck in your house will be the one in the holiday gravy!
